Terms of Service

Welcome to WedPool (“WedPool”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), operated in Kampala, Uganda. By creating an account, launching a wedding campaign, or using our public transparency services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Nature of Service: Accounting Ledger & Communications Tool

WedPool provides an online collaborative financial ledger, pledge tracking system, and automated SMS thank-you receipt tool tailored for Ugandan weddings, introduction ceremonies (kwanjula), and matrimonial celebrations.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: WedPool is not a bank, financial institution, money transmitter, escrow agent, or payment depository. WedPool does not collect, hold, intermediate, or remit monetary contributions. All monetary transactions occur directly between wedding contributors and the couple or their designated committee members via third-party telecom mobile money networks (such as MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money) or direct commercial bank transfers.

2. Account Creation & Committee Roles

To launch a campaign, you must register using an authentic telephone number and verifiable email address. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials.

  • Campaign Owners: Primary account holders retain administrative authority over the campaign, including settings, team invitations, and campaign closure.
  • Committee Treasurers: Users appointed by the owner have permission to record payments and update pledges. Treasurers are fiduciary delegates of the couple and must act with strict honesty.
  • Step-Up Security: Actions affecting financial integrity (such as voiding an existing contribution) require step-up password confirmation.

3. Contributor Data & SMS Communications

When entering contributor names and contact information, campaign owners and treasurers affirm that the contributor has expressed an intention to support the celebration or has shared their phone number in connection with wedding invitations.

Transactional SMS messages sent via WedPool are strictly limited to donation receipts, pledge balance updates, and sincere event acknowledgments. Using WedPool to transmit commercial solicitations, spam, political promotions, or predatory debt collections is strictly prohibited and results in immediate account termination.

4. SMS Credits & Delivery Disclaimer

Each new campaign receives 50 complimentary starter SMS credits. Additional credits are purchased on a prepaid basis at transparent rates. SMS credits are non-refundable once allocated.

SMS dispatch relies on third-party telecommunication providers and licensed aggregators (Pahappa / EgoSMS). While WedPool employs automatic retry mechanisms and tracking codes, we cannot guarantee instantaneous delivery if a recipient handset is out of network coverage, powered off, or blocked by national telecommunications authorities.

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use WedPool to:

  • Create fictitious, deceptive, or fraudulent campaigns;
  • Impersonate any individual, family, or committee;
  • Harvest contact information from public transparency links for unauthorized marketing;
  • Attempt to bypass security headers, rate limits, or encryption mechanisms.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law, WedPool and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from lost mobile money transfers, network aggregator outages, or committee financial disputes.

7. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Kampala, Uganda.
